
The Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies (JCCES) was established in Amman in August, 2003. The Center aims to promote civic awareness amongst the Jordanian population focusing their aspirations in such a way as to enable them to become active citizens who are aware of their rights and responsibilities and those of others.
The Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies has partnerships with national and international organizations that aim to nurture and coordinate the efforts of individuals working in the field of civic education and human rights.
The mission of the Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies is to promote an enlightened and responsible body of citizens who are committed to democratic principles and who also actively engage in the practice of democracy in Jordan.
Civic Education rests upon the concept of strengthening the elements of knowledge, values, and skills of citizenship. It respects deep universal human rights. Democratic skills are not innate but are acquired through education and practice.
Citizenship education will strengthen constitutional principles, democratic practices, and freedom of thought. Active citizens understand their culture as well as the culture of others. Furthermore they also are abler to investigate the meaning of citizenship and seek the most suitable practices for their civil societies.
