Mission Statement

The mission of the Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies is to promote an enlightened and responsible body of citizens who are committed to democratic principles and who also actively engage in the practice of democracy in Jordan.

Philosophy

Civic Education rests upon the concept of strengthening the elements of knowledge, values, and skills of citizenship. It respects deep universal human rights. Democratic skills are not innate but are acquired through education and practice.

Citizenship education will strengthen constitutional principles, democratic practices, and freedom of thought. Active citizens understand their culture as well as the culture of others. Furthermore they also are abler to investigate the meaning of citizenship and seek the most suitable practices for their civil societies.

  • Free expression and respect of pluralism,
  • Openness to different cultures,
  • Respect of the rule of law and constitutional rights,
  • Affirmation of the principle that human rights are the rights of all individuals regardless of gender, religion, nationality or race,
